Class_of_1952 Death of Classmate Gordon Finch's, (class of 52) Mother.Posted by TerryWilliamson51 at 16:27, on Thursday, November 9, 2006
Rudell (Mamaw) Bedwell Finch slipped gracefully and courageously into the “sweet by and by” on November 1st, the date of her 96th birthday. She had for many years made it clear that when the roll was “called up yonder” she would be happy to go and be with her maker. Recently, when told by her doctor that she had less than 6 months to live, she was delighted that she was finally being called and encouraged her many loved ones to be of good cheer, that she had been given almost 96 wonderful years here in the first stage of her life and was eager to go on to the next and eternal stage. She was the bright and shining star, the Matriarch of the Finch family. She set the bar not only for longevity but also for kindness and love. She will be forever missed by her two children, Gordon L. and Susan Finch, Rita and Raymond Troyer, her 10 grandchildren, Brad and Teresa Finch, Steven and Susan Finch, Buddy and Jennifer Carter, Gordon W. Finch, Nikki Finch, Candi Finch, Ray and Paige Troyer, Jr., Richard Troyer, Russell Troyer, Regina and Lee Randall, her 10 great grandchildren, and her 3 great-great grandchildren. Mamaw’s passing has given us an up close and personal experience of just how magnificent the Hospice organization is and just how caring they are not only of the patient but also of the grieving family. Our methods for disposing of our deceased are at best archaic, but Hospice has given renewed dignity and respectability to this process. And in lieu of flowers, we ask that contributions be made to Covenant Hospice, 5907 Berryhill Rd., Milton, FL 32570 850-202-5930
The family is especially thankful to Dr. Broderick for her wonderful caring of Mamaw over these past few years.
A family Memorial Service will be held at Pine Forest Estate Baptist Church in Pensacola on November 18th.

Class_of_1951 Update on Barbara Branch Simerson's diabetic problems!Posted by TerryWilliamson51 at 11:30, on Monday, November 6, 2006
I just talked to Barbara and she was not feeling very good. She is still in Baptist East Hospital at 6019 Walnut Grove Road, Memphis TN 38120 in Room 4219 of the Skilled Care Unit and will be there a good while. You may recall that Barbara lost most of one foot some time ago to diabetic problems, then lost a toe on the other foot. That foot is still giving her lots of problems and the doctors are fighting to keep from removing the foot, OR, possible her entire leg. They recently grafted a piece of skin taken from her hip to cover a bad spot on the foot and the hope is she will be able to keep her foot or leg. Barbara has a long way to go with this so keep her in your thoughts and prayers.
