All_ScrappersGreat Things He Hath DonePosted by Josephus at 9:38, on Tuesday, December 18, 2007
I Samuel 12:24 Only fear the Lord, and serve him in truth with all your heart: for consider how great things he hath done for you. (KJV)
At this time of year my thoughts almost always go beyond the event we celebrate, the birth of Christ. They extend into the future to the time He hangs on that cross as a sacrifice for you and me that we might have peace with God. A peace that passes all understanding. A peace so loving and gentle that it is difficult to understand how so many have rejected it.
During this Christmas season, and beyond, it is my hope that all of us in the Christian world remember "how great things He hath done" for us.
Merry Christmas from the Class of 1953

Class_of_1965Death of a classmate--Carolyn Streeter Tucker.Posted by TerryWilliamson51 at 10:49, on Friday, December 7, 2007
I just received word that Carolyn Streeter Tucker, class of 65, passed away this morning, December 7, 2007. I have no details at this time, but I will pass them on when I get them. Carolyn received a heart transplant in November 2001, and has had a tough time with all the pills and procedures she has had to endure. She has had a downward trail until her death, BUT, she has endured all this and led a happy life. It just fianally caught up with her. Carolyn's sister, Ann Streeter Strong, class of 51, has taken Carolyn into her home and helped her greatly, but it was just too much for Carolyn to survive. Please keep Ann and Carolyn's daughter, Carrie Smith in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time. Carolyn was "A SCRAPPER TILL SHE DIED".

Class_of_1947Christmas partyPosted by KathalineHarbison47 at 14:03, on Monday, December 3, 2007
Wow! Whoever said that growing old was no fun? On December 1,2007, the Class of 1947 held their annual Christmas party at the Bellevue Woods party room. The party was catered by Leonard's; the menu included barbecue, slaw, baked beans, spaghetti, fried chicken, rolls, pecan and lemon pies, tea and coffee. Sixty-one guests were present, including Sammy Sherrill and his wife from Madison, Ms.;Dorothy Waymon Beldon and her husband from Champaign, Illinois; Johnny Meador and his wife from Phoenix, Arizona. We were happy to have Eva Webb Donaldson present as she recuperates from a broken hip. Shirley Carothers played Christmas carols on the piano for us, but most people were just involved in visiting with each other. SO....even though we are growing "old", we're still having a wonderful time and enjoying being with our "old" friends.
Class_of_1952Jimmy Hamill - UpdatePosted by Josephus at 9:22, on Saturday, December 1, 2007
"SINGING NEWS" NEWS RELEASE:
Singing News has learned that legendary Kingsmen lead vocalist Jim Hamill passed away at approximately 5:30 a.m. today (11-29-07). He was 73 years old.
Mr. Hamill was born August 10, 1934, in Big Stone Gap, Virginia. In addition to singing with the Kingsmen, he performed with the Weatherfords, Blue Ridge Quartet, the Rebels Quartet, the Oak Ridge Quartet and the Senators. Subscribers of Singing News Magazine had voted Mr. Hamill "Favorite Lead Singer" five times, as well "Mr. Gospel Music" twice during the magazine's Fan Awards.
Though he was often regarded as one of the best frontmen in Southern Gospel music, his singing ability was also ranked among the best. Many Southern Gospel fans will long remember his performances of "Love Lifted Me" and "The Apple Tree Song" among many others.
Mr. Hamill's legacy also includes his efforts to continually put the younger members of the groups he sang with into the spotlight. Though he was confident in his own stage abilities, Mr. Hamill thought it was more important to encourgage the young performers and give them the opportunity to showcase their talents.
Memorial services for Jim Hamill will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 3, at Jackson Funeral Home, 1101 Greenville Highway, Hendersonville, North Carolina.
Per Jim's request, the memorial services will be simple, with singing by his beloved Kingsmen Quartet.
