Margaret Copeland Caldwell went to join her husband, the late Maurice Lee Copeland on December 28, 2011. They enjoyed 61 years of marriage and the blessing of children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Born in 1921 in Memphis, her parents were the late William A. Copeland and Nina Marie Furr Copeland. Margaret graduated from South Side High School in 1940, and attended the Memphis Academy of Art. A member of Union Ave. Baptist Church since 1957, she enjoyed teaching pre-schoolers using her art skills. Since becoming homebound, she appreciated the He Cares ministry of First Evangelical Church. Surviving family includes siblings Patrick Copeland
Billy Copeland and Wilma Bickers. She had 2 daughters, 4 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 12 p.m. until the service time at 1 p.m. at Memphis Funeral Home on Poplar Avenue. Interment will follow in Memphis Memory Gardens. Our classmate, Billy Wood, class of 51 is in the hospital.

Posted by TerryWilliamson51 at 18:25, on Sunday, December 18, 2011

Billy Wood, of Memphis, class of 1951, is in Room 1141 in Saint Francis Hospital in Memphis. Billy went into the hospital about 3 days ago. He was unable to get around and his blood pressure went up very high. I do not believe he will be released from the hospital soon, because he is very confused and could not take care of himself. Billy had a stroke recently and they took his car driving away from him and he then sold his car. Please don't try to call Billy, because you would not be able to hear him and he would not be able to hear you. Please keep Billy in your prayers and I will try to update you as he progresses.

BARBARA BRUCE JACKSON

Posted by JanHolleyLong57 at 16:18, on Wednesday, December 14, 2011

Barbara Bruce Jackson of the Class of 1957 has been having quite a busy year this year.

Barbara traveled to South America in January and to Argentina & Uruguay in April of this year. She has enjoyed this summer with non-stop barbecues and dinner parties on their Pergola. She even had to evacuate Stone Harbor and weathered both the hurricane and October snow storm without power. (That is true Scrapper spirit.) Barbara & her husband, Ken enjoyed two (2) visits from Ken's sister, Betty, and her husband, Bob, from Memphis this year. Barbara still remains busy and serves as Board Chairman of Neighbor's Link both locally and nationally. Barbara is looking forward to celebrating Christmas with her family and friends and extends a Merry Christmas & Happy New Year to each of you.

Many thanks Barbara,

Jan Holley Long
Class of 1957

If any other members of the Class of 1957 have anything you would like to share with your other class members, please let me know.

1947 Christmas Party

Posted by KathalineHarbison47 at 14:00, on Sunday, December 4, 2011

Another year, another wonderful Christmas party! Sponsored by the class of 1947, the party now includes many Scrappers from other years. Leonard's catered the lunch, which was great, as
usual, but the best thing of all was catching up on everyone's lives since last year. What a blessing it is to renew our friendships and gather all the love and hugs which exist within our group!
Remember the third Tuesday breakfast at Perkin's Restaurant on the corner of Park and White Station! We'll see you there!
