Death of a class of 1929 Scrapper!!

Posted by TerryWilliamson51 at 16:16, on Sunday, February 18, 2007

James H. 'Chick' Leonard, of Memphis, age 100,died Tuesday February 13, 2007. Chick graduated from South Side in the class of 1929. He was captain of the football team, lettered in baseball and was chosen for the All-Memphis football team. There was a long article in the Sunday newspaper saying he had visited all 50 states and Europe, and helped provide fuel to the Flying Tigers in China during World War 2. He had a very busy life and retired at age 84, and died 2 days short of his 100th birthday. He will surely be one of the few Scrappers who lived to his age.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Memphis Funeral Home, Poplar Chapel.

Something Interesting

Posted by Josephus at 17:05, on Thursday, February 15, 2007

Occasionally I check the statistics for our site and today I found something interesting; in January we had hits from the following countries: Argentina, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, China, the Czech Republic, the Dominican Republic, France, Germany, India, Indonesia, Japan, Latvia, Mexico, Norway, Romania, the Russian Federation, Saudi Arabia, Seychelles (Pronounced Sey'shel and is located in the Indian Ocean north of Madagascar), Sweden, Switzerland, Taiwan, Thailand, and the United Kingdom.

Over the last few months I had noticed a decisive increase in the hits and thought I would check it out.

The only thing I can imagine they were looking for is Elvis. "Memphis, Tennessee" is part of the description for our site so I guess that is probably what they retrieved from a search engine.

In Addition:

Our "Ramblings" site has received hits from: Argentina, Australia, Belgium, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Brazil, Canada, Germany, Iceland, India, Israel, Italy, Mexico, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Romania, the U.S. Military, Turkey, and the United Kingdom.
