Find Your News Administrator

Posted by Josephus at 13:45, on Monday, June 14, 2004

I have created a list of all the Class "News Administrators". It can be found in the "Members Area", "Members Area - Sign In".

So far there are only representatives from the Classes of '46, '47, '48, '49,'51, and '61.

As you will see, not all Classes are represented .... yet! I would appreciate it if each Class would form a quorum and select a few members (no more than 3) to post news for them. Posting news is a very, very, simple process! You just have to have a user name and password.

Those selected to post news will then be posted to the "Members Area", "News Administrator", page so their classmates can contact them with any news for their Class.

Class of 1951 - Recently Deceased

Posted by TerryWilliamson51 at 10:59, on Monday, June 14, 2004

I recently received an email from Virginia Miller, wife of Steve Miller, Class of 51, telling me that Steve was seriously ill with severe lung cancer. I just saw in the paper that Steve died June 12th. Steve and Virginia live in Searcy Arkansas. Steve was one of the Gaston Park guys, and was a well known Scrapper. He will be missed.

In the same paper was the notice that Haywood Watts sister, Mary Helen Watts Shirley LaComb, age 80, of Memphis, also died on June 12th at her home. Haywood was also in the Class of 51.

The class of 51 has lost James Wiggins, Orvil Summers, and Joan Crawford Scott recently

News Administrator

Posted by RichardCox46 at 8:46, on Saturday, June 12, 2004

From Joe's messages and from the announcement in General News, you know he is asking for help in posting news by classes. I will be doing this for our Class, at least until an election is made to select several "posters".
We will have to rely on you, not only for YOUR news, but to gain information from the class members not on the internet...think there are lots of those.
I certainly look forward to these communications, and hope you will keep me busy by sending it all to racox8@comcast.net.

News Administrator - Class of 1946

Posted by RichardCox46 at 18:29, on Friday, June 11, 2004

An election year funny...seems I have been "elected" (recounting the chads) the interim News Administrator of the Class of 1946, an honor no one could refuse.
I know there are lots of happenings that this great class can share with each other and with our other alumni. It is simple. You report, I post...a fantastic way to share, to bring a few smiles, and simply to be in touch with folks that we were so very close to a hundred years ago. And you don't have to be from '46 to participate. We gratefully accept anything about us from anybody...
Please send it all to racox8@comcast.net
And for sure, if you hear of a '46 reunion, please let me know.

"New Piccadilly Dinner Dates"

Posted by Josephus at 9:22, on Monday, June 7, 2004

Because of the crowded conditions caused by the Thursday Children's Bargain Night at the Piccadilly, the dates for the Scrapper Dinner have been changed.

The dinners will now take place on the fourth Tuesday, every third month, beginning July 27, 2004. The time of day is the same .... 6:30 PM.

The next four dates have been posted to the "Piccadilly Dinner" page .... from July 2004 to April 2005.

Quite a few Scrappers have quit coming because of the long serving line .... the Tuesday night schedule will alleviate this condition. So come on out and join us!

"The New Scrapper Alumni News Feature"

Posted by Josephus at 20:02, on Sunday, June 6, 2004

This news page is an effort to improve postings to the web site. I have been so preoccupied with other things that updates have gotten out of hand or just haven't been initiated.

The idea is to allow each Class to designate a few Scrappers to post information about current and future events. Some of these events could include recently deceased, class reunions, illnesses, etc. I will try to check the News each day to pick up any new postings.

Posting will be done right from this page .... those Scrappers who are chosen to be News Administrators can come to this page, click on "Post News" (located just above to the right), sign in (user name & password), select "Submit News", enter a subject, some text, and click on "Submit" .... that's it. Then all they have to do is refresh this page and the news they just posted will be displayed.

As soon as it is decided who will make the news postings I will assign them a user name and password.

Be thinking about this and pass the word around and maybe we can make this work.
